A list of WWE champions, from 1963-now.
A few notes:
+The use of the term “white supremacy” is not intended to affiliate the wrestling business with white supremacist terrorist groups such as Nazis, skinheads, or the Ku Klux Klan. Nor is the graphic indicative of a complete and thorough history of the belt.  My only intention is to reflect the lack of diversity in WWE’S main championship division.
+By “diversity”, I simply mean a non-white champion. Wrestlers who are half-white (Batista) are included in my definition.
+I selected pictures based on clarity, timeliness, and the quality of the wrestlers’ front-facing poses. As such, not all chosen pictures correspond to the wrestlers’ appearances during their championship reigns (for example, I know that I used a picture of Attitude Taker when I should’ve used one of Zombie Mortician Taker. Oh well.).
So there you have it. The almost-50-year-old title, the one Hogan carried throughout the 80s, the one at the center of the Montreal Screwjob, has had only 8 non-white owners (9 if you could Inoki).  And they might as well have called The Rock “Token” during the Attitude Era.
This will be part of an ongoing project for me, so stay tuned.
[And since tonight is Extreme Rules, it’s possible that the title will change hands, but I hope Punk retains, if only so that I won’t feel the urge to update this, lol.]
